Ingredients

  • 1 round sourdough loaf (or crusty artisan bread)
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Pinch of salt and black pepper

Preparation

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil.

Using a serrated knife, cut the bread in a crisscross pattern (about 1-inch apart), being careful not to cut all the way through the bottom.

In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

Gently open the cuts in the bread and spoon or brush the garlic butter mixture into all the crevices.

Stuff the shredded mozzarella evenly into the cuts, making sure cheese gets between the slices. Sprinkle Parmesan over the top.

Wrap the loaf loosely in foil and bake for 15 minutes.

Uncover and bake an additional 5 minutes, until the cheese is melted and lightly golden.

Let cool slightly before serving.
