Honey Garlic Chicken Drumsticks

Honey Garlic Chicken Drumsticks are sticky, savory, and perfectly balanced between sweet and garlicky. Baked until golden and glazed with a rich honey sauce, these drumsticks come out tender on the inside with a beautifully caramelized coating on the outside.

They’re simple enough for weeknight dinners but impressive enough for gatherings, potlucks, or game-day spreads.

Yield and Timing

Serves 4–6 people
Prep time: 10 minutes
Bake time: 40–45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 10–12 chicken drumsticks
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons water (optional, for thickening)

Preparation

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly grease or place a wire rack on top for crispier skin.

Pat the drumsticks dry and season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Drizzle lightly with olive oil and toss to coat.

Arrange drumsticks in a single layer on the baking sheet.

Bake for 30–35 minutes, turning once halfway through.

Make the Sauce:

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, garlic, and vinegar. Bring to a gentle simmer.

If you prefer a thicker glaze, stir in the cornstarch-water mixture and simmer until slightly thickened.

Remove from heat.

Glaze and Finish:

Brush the drumsticks generously with the honey garlic sauce.

Return to the oven for 10–12 minutes, until the glaze is caramelized and the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F / 74°C).

Brush with additional sauce before serving if desired.
